Hangin’ in Newy

comby road trip

I’m currently in Newcastle at my mum in laws house. Newy (as the locals call it) is a cool place with hip shops to visit, nice buildings and interesting places to see. The coast line is beautiful with great beaches and waves to ride. My mum lives smack bang in the middle of town and it is a vibrant and happening place with people walking by my window (and yelling) all night long.

Last night I played a private party on the beach at Merewether. The party was at a house, well it was bigger than a house, it was a mansion, right accross the road from the surf. The place was decorated with lights and lazers and everyone was in high spirits.

I dont drink so I got stuck into the freshly squeezed juice and mocktails. In one of my drinks it seemed they used a whole pineapple as garnish. Everyone had a great time and they were up dancing from the first song. This is always a sure sign that the night will be epic.

This morning I was called by Glen at Koori Radio. The Koori Radio Station is situated in the epicentre of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Sydney area which is the Block in Redfern. It was cool to promote the gig on Sydney radio and I hope heaps of crew were tuned in. It was extra special that I could do the interview on the phone from bed in my pajama’s. Haha…

Today is going to be spent relaxing and preparing for the Redfern show. Remember, it’s free, so come down if you live in the area!!
