Quit tip: Make a date and stick to it
If you’re thinking about quitting smoking, make a date and start planning towards it. Some people find there’s too much pressure in quitting on New Year’s Day, so maybe choose a date a month or two down the track.
The main thing is that you choose a date and then stick to it.
Tell your friends and family that you plan to quit on this date, and make sure you have their support.
Circle the date on your calendar and have some plans for that day that don’t involve activities you normally do when you smoke (i.e. don’t catch up with a friend who is a smoker on your quit day!). Make sure that all your lighters and ashtrays and any leftover cigarettes have been thrown away before your quit date!
